Biomechanics - Ergonomics & Physiotherapy

Dr Panagiotis V. Tsaklis is a full Professor of Biomechanics and Ergonomics, at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, University of Thessaly, since 2019. He was serving for 25 years as a Professor at the Department of Physiotherapy of the Alexander TEI Thessaloniki (1994-2019).  He is a Visiting Professor at the 3rd Orthopaedic Clinic of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, at the “Papageorgiou” General Hospital and member of the research team of “Orthopaedic and Regenerative Medicine, CORE-KEDEK AUTH”.  He serves as a appointed Research associate at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery – Growth and Metabolism, at the Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. He’s a member of the council of the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA), since 2015. By training, he holds a BSc in Physiotherapy (ATEITH, 1987) and a BSc on Physical Education and Sports Sciences, with a major specialization on “Track & Field athletics” and a minor on “Weight lifting” (Democritus Univ of Thrace, 1991). He named a PhD on Exercise Biology, from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2001). He was a PostDoctoral researcher (postDoc studies fellowship) at the Karolinska Institutet Sweden, on the field of Biomechanics and Motor Control (2005-2006). He was trained on "Tissue Engineering" at the department HST – Harvard Medical School & MIT (2007). He served as a senior researcher and lecturer at the departments NVS & Public Health Sciences of Karolinska Institutet (2005-2009). He was an appointed Visiting Scientist at the Dept of Mechanical Engineering (Bioengineering) of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (ΜΙΤ), on the field of "Tissues and Organs regeneration" (2008-2012) and he’s a member of the Harvard Medical School Post Graduate association. His teaching and research focus on:  Applied Biomechanics and Motor Control on Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Isokinetics, Tissue engineering and organ regeneration, Ergonomics and OHS and Sports Physiotherapy. He presents intensive teaching mobility through the του LLP Erasmus+ , in many European Universities. Prof Tsaklis has a rich portfolio of publications and teaching. He participates as a courses coordinator in 4 M.Sc programs and has supervised B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD thesis.  He was coordinator and participant in research funding programs from the EU (FP3 – FP7 – INTERREG II – Erasmus+ etc). Prof Tsaklis has studied and been trained on the design and materialization of curricula for Medical Schools, from the Harvard Medical School and he’s member of the committee for the annual Awards for educational curricula, at the Medical School of Case Western Reserve University, USA since 2009. He is an EXPERT at the European Commission , for the Horizon 2020 και ERASMUS+ programs and other organizations like the Research Foundation of Cyprus and General Secretary of Research and Technology of Greece. He is a licensed professional Physiotherapist since 1987. In the sports field, he’s a professional 1st degree Track&Field coach since 1991 and a federal Coach of the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS), (National Team, Throwing events), since 2016.
