Specific Football Training

Zisis Papanikolaou is an Associate Professor of soccer Training (Specialist of soccer strength and conditioning) in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science at the University of Thessaly, Greece, since 1998. He has a Diploma in Physical Education and Sports Science from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (1975). In 1988 got his master’s degree (Ed. M) from Temple University with a major in Sports Organization-Administration and a minor in Psycho-Social interactions in Sports. In 1992 earned his Ph. D. from Temple University, Philadelphia, USA with a major in Psychology of Human Movement and a minor in Exercise Physiology-Training. In 2006 he did a post-doc in Exercise Physiology on soccer. He has worked at the Temple University of Philadelphia, USA (1988-1991) and as a Lecturer at the University of Athens (1994-1998). He teaches undergraduate and post-graduate courses at different departments of Sports in Greece and USA. His interests relate to Sport Psychology, Exercise Physiology, and Training in soccer. He was the author and the co-author in more than 65 papers and book chapters in national and international journals and 13 books published in Greek. He has organized more than 200 youth soccer tournaments, 40 seminars on sports science and soccer. He was scientific advisor in the national soccer team (<19) and more than 50 soccer Academies and many professional soccer teams. He has published more than 600 articles in Greek newspapers and magazines. He gave more than 200 speeches to the schools parents. His main philosophical idea is “Child, Education, Sports”.
